Featuring Section 1 & Believe in Music
Art, music & social change + live DJ, local beer & dance floor =
On September 27, two organizations will be coming together to celebrate social innovation in Baltimore City.
Section 1 is a movement of how the creative minds of our generation can shape communities and enrich lives. To do this, Section 1 transforms vacant, underutilized and derelict sites into vibrant, creative venues and cultural centers.
Believe in Music is empowering change through digital music education and creation in both Baltimore's west side and throughout the city.
Join us at Groove headquarters from 6-9 PM for an art show, presentation, live music demo, and a hoppin' happy hour complete with DJ from In Haus Entertainment, and drinks from Union Craft Brewery and Tenth Harvest.
All tips will be donated to the work of Section 1 and Believe in Music.
Also a reminder. Because we wouldn't want you to miss it.
Section 1 was founded by Richard Best in September 2012, while attending a dual masters program between Johns Hopkins Carey Business School and Maryland Institute College of Art. As an independent thesis project, Mr. Best saw not only opportunity to transform an abandoned 3.5 acre site into an unprecedented urban art park, but also the opportunity to utilize design thinking to re-imagine public space.
Believe in Music was founded by Kenny Liner of The Bridge. The program aims to uplift underprivileged Baltimore City students academically, culturally, and spiritually, while promoting self-expression and community awareness through music education. Through the program, students will foster a deep connection with music in their own lives, and gain the tools to be able express their culture, struggles, and triumphs through music. It is our hope that students will come away from the program seeing music as a way to uplift themselves as well as their community.
